My almost 3 year old viewsonic VP201b died
at the end of last week - I think the backlight gave up (from overuse?!). I phoned Viewsonic, and with just the serial number, I now have a replacement - no need for proof of
purchase, no need for sending away - they collected and replaced all in one go.
I was fortunate (I guess) in that I'd gone for the "P" (professional)
series as they have a 3 year on-site warranty; although I didn't know that when purchasing. But in these days of companies generally being not great for warranty support, I
thought I'd share the good experience. This new one, reconditioned I would think, seems a lot brighter than the old one too. I've got a more recent version of the same
monitor in my dual screen set-up - the VP2030b - and that used to be several times brighter, but not against this new one

So there you are - buy Viewsonic.
