I'll answer the Xara question.
I've used it since it was Webstar and Xtreme is superb, so fast. If you have a picture and you want to resize it add a drop shadow or do basic editing it has to be the fastest. You can add a border to a photo in less then a minute.
It's also dam fine at making web graphics.

only if you have clapped eyes on, and have experience of using, a pair of scissors me old chum.... knowledge that would be no help to somebody randomly asking for advice on a paper-guillotine Tongue
