Photo Printer

My sister got married last month and they didn't hire a photographer because everyone had there own cams. Disposables were also left on tables etc...

Anyway, mum has tried printing photos on her lexmark and is now complaining about the quality of them

Can anyone recommend a decent photo quality printer for under say 80 squids..

I have an Epson RX425 (A4 printing, flat bed scanner/copier, single cartridges, memory card reader) which prints very good photos. You may find it or the equivalent now for around £80. Mine was £100 retail but around Christmas most places dropped it to £80 besides Currys, that dropped it to £40. It's worth the full price.

You are better off spending hte money using something like photobox. You'll get superb colours, and it'll be on proper photographic paper. Once you get the printer, extra paper and inks, you'll be spending a fortune. Remember that most printers now only come with a half filled cartridge to start you off.

Unless you print a LOT at home, and I mean a LOT, it is rarely cost effective to buy a printer, inks & paper to print at home compared to using companies like Photobox. Also, unless you have spent a lot of time and money calibrating your monitor AND printer you don't really have that much control over how your photos will turn out. If you are 'just' going to shoot and then upload/print (i.e. you arent going to be tweaking them in Photoshop etc) than it is a good bet that the jpegs straight from the camera will be in sRGB colour space which is what Photobox use too. Therefore however the photos look in camera (or there abouts as the screen on the camera won't be calibrated or able to display the entire colour gamut) will be how they look when printed without having to worry about calibration.

£80 could get you 2000 6x4 prints at Photobox

Or you could spend £80 on a printer, £20 on ink, £10 on paper and get 20 prints
