Running a website at the minute, but I'm not sure that it's actually mine.  Here's the basics:

1) I built a website for someone.
2) This person has passed on.
3) I took over running the site before her death.
4) I have continued to run it since.
5) Her son is a mod on the site, but hasn't been around recently and has informally entrusted the site to me.
6) Her brother used to be around on the site, but haven't seen him in donkeys.  He originally hired me to make the site, but then was largely uninvolved.
7) Hosting and domain costs are now paid for by a member whip-round.

Am I correct in saying that copyright for the site now lies with her son, or does it revert to me as I made the site?  No intent in this post, just curiosity - I can't see it being an issue. I mod the website continually.

It's nowt to do with you Tanty.

Think of it as a washing machine. If I croaked I wouldn't expect Curry's knocking on the door asking for the machine back.

Who's the domain registered to?

You have copyright to the parts that are your original work, unless you agreed otherwise, but nothing more. The rights to any original content by the deceased, along with the agreement to use your code, will be inherited by the son.

Possible grey area being if the content was marked as copyright of the site (or some loosely defined entity) rather than an individual. Then you have to establish who has/had ownership of the site.
