wordpress custom admin menu

does anyone know of a plugin or a way for me to edit the code so i can alter what the other users see in the admin menu?
I did always use the custom admin menu plugin but it no longer works in wp 2.3

i hope the author updates it soon.

You can also directly edit the admin interface templates, but any changes would be overwritten on the next update.

thanks for the links they are very good but not quite there. im going to use the roles plugin for now and i really hope the author updates the custom admin plugin.
