Drupal or Joomla?

I would say Joomla but each have their uses. I just find
that Drupal, no matter how you configure it or skin it, still just feels like something like Wordpress or other such Blog and I HATE blogs, or more accurately I hate how 98% of
are used and look.

If it's a small to medium site then joomla.

If it's bigger or you have time to throw at it then Drupal.

As with all these sites, how they look depends on how much effort you put in.

I would say Joomla as well. Both have learning curves but I
found Drupal to be steeper.

modx looks very good have you used it yourself?
do you know if it is easy to integrate a gallery?

I quite like Textpattern myself - not really very good at CMS
skinning!
